Instructional Specialist

Connect and collaborate with academic schools in an effort to best support deaf and hard-of-hearing students' academic instruction, as well as tutor for academic courses.

Provide tutoring services to students that are deaf or hard of hearing at all TCC campuses.

Provide technical support and training to deaf or hard of hearing students, and other students with disabilities, in the usage of TCC software and adaptive technologies (Blackboard LMS, PowerPoint and/or digital classroom media, e-mail and other communication systems, FM audio systems, video conferencing, etc.)

Make referrals to appropriate TCC resources for deaf or hard of hearing students.

Serve as backup or substitute scribe/reader for testing accommodations.

Serve as a backup scheduler for interpret requests.

Serve as primary contact for academic concerns identified by Starfish System for deaf or hard of hearing students.

Associate's degree or equivalent education in related field.

One year experience providing instructional or tutorial services to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting.

Ability to translate American Sign Language.

Ability to travel between TCC campuses and locations.

Bachelor's degree in related field.
