Job Summary:



The Social Work & Sociology department in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences invites applicants for the position of Program Director for the BS in Social Work & Sociology. This is a full-time faculty position that may be tenure track or term. We will consider ranks including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professional Lecturer. The BSW Program Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Social Work & Sociology department. They create all class schedules, hire part time faculty, oversee the BSW budget, work in close collaboration with the BSW Coordinator of Field Education, run all department meetings, teach courses, and are primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with our CSWE accreditor. We welcome a leader who embraces the advancement of antiracist and inclusive practices in the classroom and across the curriculum. The position includes a course release for administrative responsibilities.



Minimum Qualifications:




  • Ph.D or DSW required
  • MSW required
  • 2 years (or the equivalent) of post MSW professional practice



Essential Functions:



The BSW Program Director oversees the Social Work & Sociology department which includes the following functions:



  • Teaching (in multiple formats including online)
  • Academic Advising
  • Ensures compliance with CSWE standards
  • Annual Assessment reports
  • Schedules all department meetings
  • Schedules all courses in the department, and creates teaching assignments for all full time and part time faculty
  • Oversees community advisory board
  • Works with BSW field coordinator to ensure quality practicum placements and trained site supervisors
  • Commitment to fostering and advancing antiracism, equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Participates in School and university service



Preferred Qualifications:




  • Experience as a practicing social work professional
  • Prior experience in a leadership role
  • Prior experience with preparing for CSWE reviews (e.g. self-study, site visits, etc.)

  • Tuition Benefits:

    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • University pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

About the Department/School:



The Social Work & Sociology department offers the BSW degree as well as a minor in sociology. The program is CSWE accredited and students graduating in good standing are eligible to apply to advanced standing MSW programs. The department has five full-time faculty and several part-time faculty.
The Social Work & Sociology department is one of four departments in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The other departments are Psychology, Crime and Justice Studies, and Teacher Education. The School also has graduate programs as follows: MA School Psychology; MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Masters of Arts in Teaching; and MS in Education, Contemporary Curriculum and Instruction.

The Social Work & Sociology department in collaboration with the Crime & Justice Studies department recently launched a dual major in Social Work and Crime & Justice Studies. The Social Work Program is also in the process of creating an online MSW program.

The Social Work & Sociology Department and the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences are committed to advancing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment. The School has taken leadership with several social justice initiatives, including Creating an Inclusive Community dialogues, the Marist Center for Social Justice Research, the development of a Social Justice minor, and the Marist University Diversity Leadership Institute.
