Summary of Primary Functions: A specialist on BIM software, hardware, and system set up. Able to solve highly complex problems, develop new solutions and make process improvements. Identifies opportunities for innovation utilizing software to improve design strategies, implementation, and integration. Responsible for providing training and supervising program use for precast concrete. Works with software developer to implement improvements for maximum efficiency. Works to train and manage outside resources while maintaining security protocols.

Works on projects with the highest level of complexity and is considered to be an expert with both construction and BIM software. Works autonomously. Provides the organization with technical leadership. Assists with directing a team of designers in the development of complex and innovative projects. Check the work of the team to ensure accuracy and quality. Develop and support interfacing with other software platforms to share modeling information for coordination, material production, rendering and other tasks.

Systems Used:
Allplan, AutoCAD, SolidWorks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.

  • Develop new software processes and standards.

  • Prepare software improvement plans laying out.

  • Coordinate implementation of workflows.

  • Coordinate and maintain department standards and procedures.

  • Read contract drawings and specifications.

  • Prepare a list of items that need to be verified by the Salesman, Estimator, Project Manager, or General Contractor.

  • Attend a Client Turnover Meeting (CTO) or attend an early in-house kick-off meeting.

  • Analyze, project, and prepare a time management plan for completion dates.

  • Coordinate Shop Card issuing sequence with Production Planning.

  • Prepare a project binder for project-related documents.

  • Prepare and issue all material orders to support the project schedule.

  • Prepare, receive, maintain, and issue Requests for Information (RFIs) and emails.

  • Converse via email, telephone, or in-person General Contractor, Project Architect, and Project Engineer,and issue an email about what was discussed after each conversation.

  • Issue Erection Drawings and Details to the General Contractor or Owner "For Approval" and "For Construction".

  • Confer with the Designer about steel and/or shop cards detailing the progress.

  • Guide Designer about company standards for modeling and detailing.

  • Detail Steel Card(s) and Shop Cards when required by schedule.

  • Receive, approve, or revise & resubmit drawings from the General Contractor or Owner and notify project management when marked changes should result in a change of order.

  • Direct Designers on what to detail, such as Shop Cards, and check the work of detailers on the job; Ensure adherence to company standards and proper BIM implementation.

  • Work closely with Production regarding conforming restraints.

  • Participate and direct BIM coordination efforts with clients and internally.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Specifications or Qualifications:

Certificates, Licenses, Registration: None.

Education: College Degree (4-year) is required.

Experience: 10 to 15 years; familiarity with 3D drafting software required, Allplan preferred.

Requires ability to make strategic decisions including:
Able to set design standards to meet job, software, and company needs. Able to direct designers to ensure drawings are according to Tindall standards.
