Trust Officer - Team Lead, Premier Trust

Location(s): Las Vegas, NV

Role Type: Full Time (5 Days Weekly in Office)

Salary: $95,000 - $105,000 per year + annual bonus

Summary:

We are seeking a Trust Officer Team Leader to join the team within Premier Trust, a member of Osaic. The Trust Officer Team Leader is responsible for the overall company's trust activities for all or portion of their specific department and for complete administration of assigned complex accounts. Our selected candidate will represent the company in business activities and contacts with customers, outside professionals and beneficiaries relating to these accounts. Additionally, the Trust Officer Team Leader assures compliance with all policies and procedures governing trust functions, as well as all applicable state regulations. This position is expected to provide leadership, training and support to less experienced trust officers and other staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • The position of Premier Trust Team Leader is responsible for the supervision of the department staff.
  • Oversees and performs personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; supervises the activities of employees including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training for specific trust department.
  • Oversees a portion of all of team's staff in the performance of their specific duties.
  • Develops, reviews, implements and recommends overall trust systems and procedures.
  • Administers in accordance with the terms of the nominating instrument and in a manner consistent with the needs of principles, beneficiaries, and remaindermen.
  • Contacts or corresponds with persons, agencies, and organizations that have an interest in any aspect of an account.
  • Assists in developing new business and advises or consults with other officers on details of proposed plans.
  • Analyzes the need of funds according to conditions of trust or needs of court ward or beneficiary.
  • Coordinates and reviews the preparation and filing of federal and state tax returns for trusts. Establishes and maintains client data. Consults with client's attorney from administrative perspective on drafting legal documents specifying details, conditions, and duration of trust.
  • Reviews and approves discretionary payments of debts for trusts and the beneficiaries request for disbursements.
  • Initiate and or assist in the marshalling and funding of new accounts.
  • Interacts frequently with subordinates, peers and functional managers. Answers telephones, answers questions and directs callers to proper personnel. Operates personal computer to obtain and process data.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all records and data received and produced.
  • Responsible for compliance with all applicable company policies, state laws and regulations.
  • Complies with Bank Secrecy Act ("BSA"), OFAC Anti-Money Laundering ("AML"), and USA PATRIOT ACT policies, procedures, by properly verifying the identity of any person/business an account, maintaining records of the information used to verify each costumer and consulting lists of known terrorists before opening an account.
  • Report any customer suspected of suspicious activity immediately to the BSA/Compliance Officer. Responsible for audit results from BSA/OFAC and Compliance Exams. Participate in required annual BSA/AML/OFAC and Compliance training.
  • Exhibits objectively and openness to others' views; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit.
  • Understands business implications of decisions; displays orientation to profitability, demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; aligns work with strategic goals.
  • Represents the company in various, civic, community development, and CRA functions to further enhance the company's image and develop additional business.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to EEP policy; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; educates others on the value of diversity; promotes working environment free of harassment of any type; builds a diverse workforce.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • The position of Trust Officer -Team Lead, Premier Trust is responsible for the supervision of the department staff.
Basic Requirements:
  • 6+ years of related experience in the trust industry along with the experience of leading teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of related state compliance regulations, and other trust operational policies.
  • Advanced knowledge of trust policies and procedures, and trust products and services.
  • Intermediate skills in and personal computer operation; word processing, spreadsheet (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel etc.) programs.
  • Typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Intermediate knowledge of human resource and labor laws and policies.
  • Advanced math skills to calculate interest and balance accounts, but not limited to the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. The incumbent must also possess the ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for department using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in delegation skills.
  • Advanced oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
  • Current state issued driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff.
  • Focus on achieving and rating personal goals and those of subordinates.

  • Performs the position safely, without endangering health or safety to himself or herself or others, will be expected to report potentially unsafe conditions. The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one's own actions and conduct.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and/or six (6) or more years of related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience must consist of Trust Administration experience in the financial services industry. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be nosiness or financial industry related.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Licenses Preferred: Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA)
