Position Summary

Metropolitan State University of Denver's AACSB and ABET-accredited Department of Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics invites applications for a tenure track faculty appointment in the College of Business beginning August 2025. The candidate is expected to teach in one or more of the following areas: business analytics, business intelligence, big data analytics, knowledge discovery, managerial statistics, data mining/warehousing, or management science. This is a Computer Information Systems or closely related field position; this is not a Computer Science position.

MSU Denver has a robust mentoring program for tenure-track faculty. The candidate will be enrolled in the Roadrunner Faculty Academy during their rst year. This is a year-long course designed to support new faculty navigate faculty life and thrive in teaching, scholarly activity and service.

Responsibilities

The position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching, student advising activities, professional development/scholarship consistent with AACSB and ABET accreditations, and service to the department, college, university and community. The candidate is expected to teach in one or more of the following areas: business analytics, business intelligence, big data analytics, knowledge discovery, managerial statistics, data mining/warehousing, or management science. Teaching will be done through online, synchronous, and/or face-to-face formats.

Description of Tenure Track Faculty Duties

  • Teaching involves activities that impart knowledge and critical thinking skills to students. It includes preparing for courses assigned, assessing student progress, conducting curricular review, curricular development, and program review, including the use of new technology, as appropriate.
  • Advising, involves activities specifically directed to assist the student in choosing career options, choosing a degree program, successfully completing his or her degree, obtaining employment or graduate school placement, and keeping informed of University policies.
  • Engaging in scholarly activities is a process which includes activity that brings enrichment to the faculty member and the profession and results in new material that can be presented to students, as well as new skills which benefit the University community and are related to the faculty member's assigned responsibilities. Intellectual contribution expectations for Scholarly Academic (SA) designation includes a Doctorate Degree with 5 intellectual or scholarly contributions during a 5-year period. Three must be intellectual contributions, two of which are articles in a preferred peer-reviewed journal. ABD and recent doctorate graduates (less than five years) require no intellectual contributions for hiring but must meet the SA or Practicing Academic (PA) requirements within five years of earning a terminal degree.   • Service involves contributions to the improvement of the welfare of the University at any level, and typically unpaid public service to the community or professional organizations which benefit the University.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABD candidates are welcome to apply, but the expectation is that the terminal degree will be conferred prior to the position start date
  • A record of recent refereed publications or other intellectual contributions in the Business Analytics field
  • Previous college/university teaching experience at an AACSB-accredited institution on a wide range of business analytics courses with special consideration for those who teach management science, managerial statistics, business analytics, business intelligence, knowledge discovery, big data analytics, or data mining/warehousing
  • Experience with and commitment to the educational needs of population-dense/urban areas, including first-generation, adult, working, and other identity representations

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $102,000 - $112,000 at Assistant Professor rank. The salary of the nalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
