Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) manages the 10-year, $2.1 billion Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management, Los Alamos Field Office.

N3B is a limited liability company owned by HII Nuclear Inc. and BWX Technologies, joined by our critical subcontractors Longenecker and Associates and Tech2 Solutions.

N3B brings operational discipline, proven approaches and predictable results to the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract.

Position Location:

This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Los Alamos is a tight-knit mountain community that consistently ranks as one of Livability.com's Best Small Towns in America. For two years in a row, Los Alamos County has ranked as the healthiest county in the nation according to a U.S. News report. The city is a top spot for outdoor enthusiasts as it has more than 120 hiking and biking trails, and residents enjoy easy access to the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area. Thanks to the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos' presence in the area, Los Alamos also has a college-town vibe that's a major draw for young professionals, families and retirees.

Position Summary:

The Metric and Data Analyst will work across the organization to collect, manage, summarize, and communicate data as needed for the implementation of N3B's Environmental Management System (EMS). The position will be responsible for developing procedures/processes to ensure data quality.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

The Position reports to the Environmental Programs/Services Director.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):

  • Build and maintain systems to collect, manage, summarize, and communicate key sustainability and operational metrics
  • Engage with stakeholders across N3B to identify, track, manage, and report on the company's environmental performance
  • Develop, track, and lead data generation and formulation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the EMS
  • Compile and submit annual Site Sustainability Plan reporting
  • Develop various environmental performance status reports for senior management

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite, Power BI
  • Data visualization, storytelling through data, data analytics, dashboard development
  • Scripting using languages such as SQL, Python, R
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills for communicating effectively with staff across disciplines
  • Good time management skills to manage diverse portfolio and multiple project needs
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn
  • Work independently with minimal supervision completing assigned roles and responsibilities

Desired Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Familiarity with DOE Cyber-Security regulations
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001:2015 - Environmental Management Systems
  • Working knowledge of Costpoint, Devonway, ArcGIS, Environmental Information Management (EIM) database, and the Waste Compliance and Tracking System (WCATS)

Education and Experience Required:

Level 3: Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related scientific discipline and at least 6 years' experience

Level 4: Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related scientific discipline and at least 10 years' experience

Level 3: Represents organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Impact:

Level 3: Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a serious effect upon the administration of the organization.

Level 4: Effects of decisions are long-lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization. Errors in judgement of failure to achieve results would result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Primarily assigned to perform work in the office. Work may be completed remotely, but on-site coordination is likely necessary. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline.

While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the Metrics and Data Analyst staff will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Official Use Only (OUO). This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
