Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of UHS, is a 182-bed treatment facility, conveniently located in beautiful Oakland Park, FL that specializes in the successful treatment of substance abuse and mental health issues for youth, adults and seniors. DIRECTOR of RISK MANAGEMENT

The Director - Risk Management responsibility is to protect the hospital's assets from loss. This is done through various loss control efforts, which includes advising administration of potential sources of loss and making recommendations to minimize and/or eliminate exposure. The structure and function for managing risks is identified through the Risk Management Plan and Patient Safety Program. The Director-Risk Mgmt. activities may include monitoring, analysis, reporting, conducting investigations, educating, facilitating regulatory and accreditation activities, and facilitating performance improvement task forces, teams and/or committees. The individual in this leadership role directors others within the organization in safety and risk mitigation related to medical/health care errors and/or unintended adverse patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Master's degree, or BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed professional a plus

Experience:

  • Three (3) years clinical experience in a psychiatric in-patient facility with knowledge of high- risk areas. Three years management experience preferred.

License/Certification:

  • Risk Management Certificate
  • CPR/BLS/CPI

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of hospital operations, risk identification, assessment and reduction and claims management
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is sedentary, sitting most of the day, some standing.
  • Must be able to lift 10 to 20 pounds
  • Periodically walk the campus

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA, Patient Rights, State legislation and Risk Management Standards
  • Direct the Health Information management Service Department within all standards established by the regulatory and licensing agencies regarding patient record standards.
  • Ensure Confidentiality
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD-9-cm, CPT coding
  • Understanding of Risk Patterns and prevention
  • Effective Department staffing and leadership experience.
  • Sensitive and aware of diverse cultures and their practices.
