What You'll Do: Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Complying with regulations (e.g.,hours of service, weight limits). Reporting incidents or accidents. Drive. Safely operate heavy haul truck, dump truck. Transporting materials (e.g.,construction equipment and goods while maneuvering in tight spaces or heavy traffic.) Adhering to all traffic laws & regulations Inspect and Maintain. Performing basic truck maintenance (e.g.,oil checks, tire checks) Reporting maintenance issue to supervisor. Submit Reports. Submit Daily reports indicating truck conditions before and after each shift. Maintain a driver log according to I.C. regulations. Follow Standard Procedures. Follow and maintain standards set for all equipment . Securing all loads properly. Load and unload equipment safely. Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities such as cleaning all areas on the vehicle, inspecting the vehicle/trailer for mechanical issues or damage. Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Skills You'll Need: Experience. Related CDL experience and/or training is preferred. Ready to Drive. Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver's license. Must be a company approved driver. Must have current long form physical and medical card. Hazmat and or/tanker endorsement is preferred. Language Skills. Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to write simple correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other Vulcan employees. Basic Math Skills. Must have the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Must have the ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. What You'll Like About Us: Great Company Culture.
