Job Overview

As a member of the Graduate College team, this role centers around providing comprehensive support to students during challenging times. The person in this role will work closely with the embedded counselor, university and community partners to address non-clinical, consultative, emergency, and case management needs for graduate students.

Essential Functions

The Case Manager must have the ability to work independently and to partner with various departments (e.g. UC CARE Team, Accessibility Resources) in order to advance the Graduate College community's awareness of well-being issues and resources.




  • Serve as the first point of contact for students when navigating conflict, grievances, and policies
  • Develop relationships with academic units, student support services across campus to best serve students
  • Provides transitional support to referring therapist and clients in need of referral to community services
  • Provide training for faculty/staff regarding managing student concerns
  • Engage in outreach with students
  • Serving as a liaison, this position facilitates coordination between CAPS, Ombuds, and various community referral sources (e.g. hospitals, private practitioners, clinics, psychiatry services, and other mental health agencies.)
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of community referral resources
  • Collaborate with PM for Community & Belonging; PM for Student Services to support Graduate College activities; and the Graduate College team
  • Manage emergency funding requests in partnership with the Student Concerns subcommittee

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters in Social Work, Counseling, or related field
  • LCSW, LPC, LPCC, or similar license/credential (LCSW ideal)

Required Education

Master's Degree must be in Social Work

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • State of Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or licensed eligible (must be obtained within six (6) months of employment)
  • State of Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor (LISW-S) (must be obtained within six (6) months of employment)

Required Experience

  • Two to five years of experience of case management or counseling experience

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience working with college students or well-versed in college student wellness trends
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations, including underserved and international students, with knowledge of educational barriers facing underrepresented students
  • Extensive knowledge of social services in the Cincinnati metro area
