JOB DESCRIPTION

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and supporting Windows and Linux-based applications for Production and Development in a highly collaborative and fast paced environment. Responsibilities include configuring and supporting all aspects of enterprise applications (Windows and Linux), identifying and correcting performance issues, and providing technical and operational support to applications developers, infrastructure teams, DevOps and end-users. The successful candidate will help drive and deliver the enterprise resiliency and disaster recovery program. The incumbent will be involved in supporting and troubleshooting all aspects of application functionality, designing automated solutions, Capacity and Performance Management, asset management, application monitoring, software installation and configuration, technical support, server security management, hardware recommendations and procurement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Owns enterprise applications from a configuration and operational support perspective.
  • Provides technical testing support, supports Production systems and development installs, deployments, and upgrades.
  • Collaborates with Applications Development, Infrastructure and Operations, and Operational Support teams.
  • Performs Windows application installation, administration, configuration, patching, performance monitoring, backup and recovery.
  • Conducts triage support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
  • Performs intermediate to advanced troubleshooting, testing, and debugging to resolve process, application batch, or testing failures.
  • Provides enhanced testing support for Production fixes and deployments.
  • Performs immediate level root cause analysis and provides solutions via troubleshooting Production batch processing and runtime failures.
  • Attends triage and troubleshooting calls, providing analysis, resolution, and recommendations on issues.
  • Completes performance analysis on escalated issues for end-user response time or reported slowness of system resources.
  • Presents findings and/or recommendations to stakeholders and upper management.
  • Proactively works on automation of internal and external team processes.
  • Reviews and manages process improvements for installs, deployments, and upgrade plans.
  • Automates processes via scripts and tools to create organizational efficiencies.
  • Performs/assists in periodic and emergency system and patch maintenance while minimizing client and customer impact.
  • Provides monitoring support of Production and Development systems, including Linux/Windows, space alerts, new database, and Linux user requests.
  • adhering to current Security guidelines.
  • Collaborates with the Asset Management team to manage company assets from acquisition through end-of-life.
  • Conducts regular audits and maintains accurate records of all technology assets in inventory systems.
  • Assists in vendor, internal, and external audits of all technology assets in inventory systems, including providing technology procedures, exports, and reports as needed.
  • Participates in projects related to technology asset management, such as asset migrations, upgrades, and system implementations.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ w/Bachelor's degree


  • Additional Experience

  • Experience in projects working as a member of a technical team and/or leading the roll out of production and test systems.
    * Experience with Windows Server System products involving a variety of software and hardware implementations.

  • Ability to identify key issues and details, and present understandable alternatives to both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation to support the testing, installation, operations, deployment and maintenance of products
  • Proven ability to effectively present data to facilitate understanding of findings
  • Ability to solve complex problems using analytical and creative problem-solving skills for design, development and testing of systems
  • Strong knowledge of statutes/codes/regulations, including program procedures, methods and practices and their application to specific situations
  • Ability to develop and analyze technology heatmaps and subsequently develop plans to remediate hardware/software nearing End of Life/End of Support
  • Competent at adhering to organizational processes and procedures including but not limited to scrum, various design artifacts.


  • Base Pay Information

    The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.

    Pay Grade 21. $80,500 - $174,300
