The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes at the University of Colorado offers a range of programs designed to educate and empower healthcare providers to deliver evidence-based care for patients at all stages of type 1 diabetes (T1D). One of our flagship initiatives, STOP T1D, has a dual mission: (1) To raise awareness among healthcare providers and communities about the critical importance of early T1D detection; and (2) To equip healthcare professionals and organizations with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to effectively screen, educate, and monitor patients. STOP T1D aims to expand access to pre-clinical T1D screening for both children and adults, driving progress toward universal screening approval. Through cost-effective, evidence-based programs, we are working to ensure that every individual is screened and that no one suffers from a delayed diagnosis. Additionally, the Ask the Experts program offers direct support to healthcare providers and families across the U.S. who screen positive for T1D-related antibodies or celiac disease, providing practical guidance and education for effective disease management. We are seeking a highly creative and innovative Instructional Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement engaging educational programs for healthcare providers. This role involves conducting needs assessments, designing curriculum, developing content, and providing impactful learning experiences that enhance knowledge and skills related to T1D screening and monitoring Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct consultations, focus groups, and performance data analysis to identify training needs.
- Create engaging and effective instructional materials using various instructional design models, learning theories, and multimedia tools.
- Ensure the accuracy and relevance of instructional content by working closely with experts in the field.
- Measure the effectiveness of learning experiences with various modes of assessment and make necessary improvements.
- Design inclusive learning experiences that are accessible to all learners.
- Keep abreast of new trends and technologies in learning and instructional design.
- Maintain records of design processes and learner feedback for continuous improvement.

Work Location:
|
This role is expected to work onsite during the orientation period and is located in Aurora, Colorado. This role may be eligible for a hybrid schedule of up to 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below: Instructor Level
- Master's Degree or equivalent in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' proven experience in instructional design and content creation, preferably in a healthcare or educational setting.
- Presentation of a professional portfolio with at least 3 examples of instructional design work.
Senior Instructor Level
- Master's Degree or equivalent in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in instructional design and content creation, preferably in a healthcare or educational setting.
- Presentation of a professional portfolio with at least 3 examples of instructional design work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in instructional design and content creation, preferably in a healthcare or educational setting
- Knowledge of T1D or experience in healthcare education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in multimedia design tools and e-learning platforms.
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and best practices to create effective learning materials
- Strong analytical skills utilizing programs to complete assessments and analytics
- Experience with web conferencing/presentations, and distance learning.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to work independently, prioritize appropriately and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally
- Ability to receive and provide feedback on work performed.
- Initiative to learn and adapt to changing needs and technologies in the field of instructional design.

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: Instructor: $70,000 to $82,000 Senior Instructor: $78,000-$90,000 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
